Google Including New Back Links?

July 30 2004 - So how long before SERPS are affected?

I have noticed that G is showing my new backlinks but my SERPS has not altered yet.

Do I assume that the extra links are not enough to affecr my SERPS or do I need to wait for Google to update something else before it will change?

I agree with Enrique, Grandpops you must have checked your backlinks a bit late, Google messed everyone's backlinks somewhere in the mid of July, You must have checked that mess recently,

No update in the DC IP you provided, We are due for a PR update

soon we can see Toolbar PR updated,

On the test sites in question we check backlinks at 10.00 and 22.00 GMT every day of the week

Ohh that's weird, Even reddevil reported he saw backlink changes, I can see other people in spain, germany report backlinks changes, it is too weird how only people there report a change while we cannot see it,

I have a lot more backlinks, but what is strange is that my own pages pr3 shows up as backlinks before they didnīt.
Or google know includes lower than 4 to show up, or the pr will be updated later.

The junk results from a link: search return pages with PR 1 and 2 for my site. Also one area shows no backlinks, not even internal ones.

My own observation of the link: search is that it remains utter garbage.

So is anyone actually seeing something different than what we've been seeing since July 16th [webmasterworld.com]? Or is this the first time that the change was noticed by some?

I'm seeing something different.

At first glance my backlinks looked to have halved. Even though I know the 'missing' half are still linking to me. So I got the idea to scurry off back to G and searched bl for my most popular entry page (not my home page). There they were! So half were showing under the home page, and the second half under another entry page.

So in the past all my bl were showing when I typed the following into G: link:www.mydomain.com
Now to pick up the other half I also have to type in: link:www.mydomain.com/subdir/index.asp

Checked through the bl sites G listed to see whether the sites that G listed as linking to the subdirectory were indeed linking to that subdirectory. Found a strong correlation, though not a perfect correlation.

If there is anyone else out there with bl's going to a page other than their home page, please let me know whether you have found the same thing.

Back links = other pages which link to the page you're looking at.

Agreed. The only thin I noticed that happened in July was that the backlinks downgraded from "Empty Big Mac Boxes" to "Industrial chemical and biological waste".

Lot of new pages went in today, took about a week this time. Backlinks, I don't think anyone should care anymore.

Does anyone have an idea of how long it should take to start seeing back links on Google.

I launched a new site about two months ago. One day the PR went to 1 from a pathetic zero (got to start somewhere I guess). There it sits at 1 and google shows NO Backlinks.

I know of about 200+ backlinks.

Thanks..

Before this recent update (or whatever it is) I had 3 backlinks listed on google, all PR > 4.

Now I had 24. But heres the crazy thing, half are from pages on my site with NO PR AT ALL. The other half are from pages with PR < 2. I had tons of backlinks from PR>4 sites, but only the low PR ones show up.

Google is whacked

I am seeing some fluctuations in the SERPS, though nothing major. However haven't seen any change in the backlinks at all on any of the www servers.

This morning I noticed a considerable increase (everything is relative) in the number of backlinks I'm showing. This site is 2 only months old, showing only 4 backlinks before, now showing 15.

I also monitor the number of sites linking via "+www.website.+com" and saw a downward shift from ~485 last night to ~390 this morning.
