In the latest PR toolbar update (June) second level pages show as PR2's and lots of product pages showing PR1.
On every page the top left logo is a link back to the index page, [example.com....] Now that the PR3 homepage has about 20 PR2s and 50-60 PR1s pointing at it how much benefit will that give to the home page in terms of PR. Will I see a PR4 next update for the home page? I know this would be a positive feedback loop ad infinitum, and thus no in the longterm, but there must be a benefit?
Each page has about 20 links on it - all pointing to pages inside the site.
To summarise, do internal links carrying PR weigh the same as external inbound links carrying the same PR?
Thanks!

Yes. It's true that PageRank is named after Larry Page, but it is still about _pages_, not about websites.
There are other reasons, though, why equally relevant links from external sources are more valuable than internal links.

Yes, there is no difference beween internal and external links for PR calculation. However, as long as the other parameters doesn't change (PR passed to your home page etc.), you won't see an effect for your home page next update because the contribution from your internal links are already taken into account. (Assuming that the link to your home page isn't new and was already there when you created the pages.)
