How long does it take to get PR in Google?

I have launched my new website approximately 3 weeks ago. Google performed a deep crawl a couple of weeks ago and has since been to the site on most days.
I have two PR5 websites linking back to mine but my PR remains 0 and when performing a link back command it retuns nothing. Is this normal? How long does Google normally take to rank sites?

Yes.

Generally, month to three months for a brand new site.

Might need more than two links to get somewhere, though.

I have a site with close to 100 incoming links. Most of them are from edu sites and many of them are PR 4 or 5. Some are PR6.

Google shows 40 links when I issue link:www.mysite.com on google.

The site is up for 11 months now.. and my PR is ZERO.. I always see a white bar, and the best part is that humans at Google don't think that anything is wrong with my site, because after reviewing my project, they have allowed me commercial use of their API, yet the automated search algos probably think that my site is not worth crawling more than once a month.

To summerize.. you never know how long will it take.

Thanks

But, with 40 links it shouldn't take 11 months. I think there is another problem on your site sdani. With at least a few dozen good backlinks, I usually see toolbar PageRank showing up within 2-3 months.

I don't have these 40 links for 11 months.. I have got these links over past 11 months.
Yahoo is showing my backlinks for several months, but I don't know for how long google is showing my back links..
I always used to search for link:mysite.com, and used to get zero results. That search still shows zero results. Since last PR update, I started searching for link:www.mysite.com and that shows up 40 links.
So, I don't know if google recognized 40 links earlier also, or they were updated during last PR update.

Thanks

Sdani it sounds like an expired domain penalty. Was the domain owned previously? If so,It may take up to 12 months to lift or if the domain was banned it mwy be pr0 for ever.:(

Is there a way to check if the domain was owned by someone before I got it?

Thanks

The problem with getting more back links to the site to improve PE is that other webmasters are unwilling to exchange links with websites with PR0.
So how do you go about that?

Do a search for the wayback machine to find a domain's history. There may or may not be a history showing, but it's a good place to start.

No history on WayBack Machine.. except my own two records for the two days when my site was under construction, in June 2003. After that I put up my pages and told the robots not to archive my pages.. so no history in WayBack Machine.
Today, I uploaded my new home page, where I have enabled caching..just to see if that makes any difference.
In theory I know nocache should have no effect, but when one is desperate, he/she is usually willing to try every method :(

Well, that's an off topic question. But here's the answer:

Give your home page and your links page (especially your links page) a link from your blog/web design site/geocities website/pay some kid to link to you/beg your family/etc...

You get the picture.

Thanks martinibuster.
I have researched and compiled a list with a couple of hundred prospect sites which are within my business area and I will have a go. ;)

That's a great start. Also, you'd be amazed at how many people have no idea about PR, so don't worry about it too much. ;)
