Description, overture misreading or position?

keyword searched circa 3,000 times per day per Overture

Google position 4

Traffic = 0

Not great. Have updated description and waiting for that to flow through, but really interested in comments.

Is there a rough rule of thumb or any research on what percentage of traffic positions 1,2,3,4 & 5 might be expected to get clicking through on any keyword search?

Thanks in advance

I thought those overture numbers were per month.

Overture also does some stemming (as does google, but they do it differently) so you might not be at #4 in the preferred method of entering the search term. You might be doing well on a search for [jacket] when most of the searcher are entering [jackets] and overture is combining those numbers.

#4 is actually a really lousy place to be. I find that 9 and 10 get more traffic than 4-8. The only good thing about being #4 is that you are that much closer to breaking the #1 and #2 spots.
