Being filtered/penalized but can't figure out why.

Hello,

It seems our site is being filtered for our main 2 kw search term but we can't figure out why.

We are in the top 5 for allinanchor and we have a pr of 5. We have a 300 page site and attempt to add content every once in a while. Our incoming links are somewhat mixed up and do not all contain the same phrase.

We don't seem to be overdoing any optomization but for some reason we cannot break past the number 85th position in google.

We were ranking in the top 5 for these terms but now we are stuck at position 85 and cannot budge. We have stripped the site but we still stay at position 85.

How long before anchor text effect gets updated? We previously had our kw as anchor text internal link back to our homepage but we changed it to minimize the use of the kw in anchor text links. This could be the reason for some kind of filter..

Any ideas?

Hi Mike,welcome to WW.
Maybe check the variety of your backlnks.Not for anchor text but for how many links are from the same site or same nest?
You may figure high in anchor text rankings but if google has discounted many of the backlinks for being from the same source then you wont get the benefits of those in the serps.
Get more independent backlinks and change your internal anchor text back to what you are targetting is my 2 cents.

I was just thinking that my internal crosslinking was too spammy so i changed it from "kw1 kw2 home" to "kw2 home".

I have 75 backlinks showing up in google and about 25 of those showing up are from independent sites. Another 15 showing are from my www.domain.com site and another 10 showing are from my dirty shop.store.yahoo.com/domain/ site which is a duplicate of the vanity site.

In yahoo i have approximately 700 backlinks registered.

I think I was being filtered before for duplicate content (www.domain.com and shop.store.yahoo.com)but then I added some redirects and now my vanity url is showing in the google results for "kw1 and kw2" but it's just locked in at position 85.

Has anyone else experienced this type of filtering?

Thanks for any advice, it has really been frustrating.
