How to find out if your pages have been updated by Google?

Could someone help me out with this?

I wonder how you learn that your optimized pages have been indexed by Google (even if no progress in ranking and placement proceeded)?

What is "site:www.yourdomain.com"? What does it show you?

Thanks in advance

A Google site:www.mydomain.com search shows all the web pages that Google has indexed for showing with that site: search process for the domain www.mydomain.com. It may or may not show you all the web pages for that domain that Google has indexed. Very recent ones may not get in even though they have been spidered.

To be absolutely sure, search for a very specific phrase that is uniquely to be found on the web page you want to check. Put the phrase in " " in the search field. If Google has that web page indexed then it will come up in a search.

welcome to Webmasterworld Strider

From the google homepage I used to always to [wwwm.mydoman.com...] search and click on the cache copy to see if it has the recent version of the website. Not sure if its still effective.

yea, site: is about the best way, it will show you every single page within that site, that has been indexed by google. and, if your site is huge, like couple hundred pages or so, just look at the number of results pulled back when u do a site: search. if that number increases, then, obviously it has picked up more pages within your site, if it drops, then something is going on, and google is dropping pages. hope it helps

I have pages indexed in Google that I made changes to over 2 months ago. Why would they not have been reflected by Google by now? I also have quality links from other fairly highly ranked Google indexed sites with direct links to my website. Any ideas?

I have a query about the difference between "crawled" and "indexed". I recently changed the home page of my website and within 2 days, i went on google and typed in "mydomain.com" and my site showed up. Clicking on the "cached" link, the new home page showed up. Now what does this mean? Google has crawled my new page (thats for sure). But does this means that it has been indexed too? I modified my homepage for SEO reasons, so does it means that all the seo efforts are in work with Google? All this happend within 2-3 days of uploading the new page. What does it means? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
