Changing IP but not Host

Will this kill my rankings?

I have heard of people changing their hosts, but I am actually just switching servers within the same host so my IP will change but name servers will not change. Is there anything special I need to do to make sure I don't get dropped from Google?

Thanks.

Hi

It should be fine, but I would'nt change too much content during the transfer. I haven't got my head round why this happenned but a few months ago I changed ip and rebuilt the site with new content at the same time..... it dropped like a stone. I'm sure it was not the new content which caused the problem, I just wonder if the 'total' change upset google in some way.

I know the above sounds crazy but my gut feeling is to keep everything the same while changing ip addresses.

Well, Well, Well

Dont have any good experience with changing IPs
If your site is quite stable, regularly crawled, high PR with some reputed Links.... go for it.

Else
Think twice (IMO)

Our ISP changed our IP address last year and it went off without a hitch. Googlebot found the new address in less than a day.

But just because it worked in our case does not mean that it is going to in yours. I haven't heard any horror stories lately, but you never know.

Good luck.

Heard of aftermath of chaging IP coming up after 6 Months?

Yeah! I change the IP of one of my sites and it disappeared after few Months.
After researching, I came to know that GoogleBot had started hitting the old IP again...where it dint find anything.
