Anchor text

increased value?

I have noticed in the last day or two an increase in the value of anchor text. Or at least I think an increase in the value anchor text.
For a keyword I watch extremely close, a site appeared in the top 5 for the first time. I did a little research and discovered that they have 1 incoming link with the keyword as its achor text. The target page does even have the keyword on it. So it appears that this site ranks in the top 5 based on this one link.
Has anybody else noticed an increase in the value of anchor text?

Yes in my industry all the top results are similar to allinanchor results.

I can corroborate this as well.

Certainly a major shift in the algo is underway.

Google looks very stable, no recent Algo changes. No changes regarding anchor text. No changes at all. It seems Google wouldn't make any waves until IPO is over.

Definite differences between .ca and.com here in the UK.

When i tried to connect google.ca it says that it is unable to process the request.

I first noticed this last night on the .com site. But I can see the same results that clued me in on 216.239.53.98 right now.

I also noticed some curious sites in the serps, which seem to have only 20 incoming links , while other sites needed to get 1000sands of links to get this top position.
I am not sure what this is all about.
These sites are free-of-charge domains like "...uk.tc" and even more worse they have an affiliate program in a frameset on as the only content on their sites.
When looking for link:...uk.tc about 20 links are coming up mostly from guestbooks or blogs or sites where comments are allowed and some links from free webspace providers like 0catch.
How can these 20 absolutely rubbish links beat onehundreds of pretty legitimate non-reciprocal links?

One single page "site" leapt into a hyper competitive top ten looking similar: PR3, a few links. The site has no merit at all. The text is just random. I believe its new ranking is due to tens of thousands of PR0 or PR1 anchor text links.

its not anchor text but title(<title>), check out title, now there is much value to the title density, just change your title and make it high densied and you will see the changes in very one week.
