The point of view that PageRank is dead is kind of a very static view of the world. It will always continue to be a part of our ranking scheme but, over time, as we develop new ideas on how to do ranking, as we tweak existing ideas, as we think about new ways to have them play together--the role of any one of the techniques that we use will obviously change.

Don't focus on PR only since it is not that important afterall.
I don't think that is a very accurate reading of it. He said that as new techniques are developed, that the value of different components will change. It could in fact rise at some point in the future.
He did say that PR will always be a part of it. So as far as I am concerned, PR is still important. But so are all those other factors. Just like people have been saying on this board since I started reading it a couple of years ago.
