Links do not appear in google as backlinks

Hi,
I want to get my website advertised on another website and gain some pr at the same time.
However, I checked all the other advertisers which have simple text links on this high PR page with the 'search link' function of google, and couldn't find the high pr website in the result list of website linking to the advertisers.
Does it means that this site doesn't transmit PR to others?

sounds like it.
Check the other sites with link:www.advertisementsite.com and see if the site you are getting links from is listed. if not, it may have been blocked for selling links for PR reasons.

Google is paying some attention to sites selling text links. So it might be one of those cases. Otherwise the links might be just new links. I have a strong feeling that you should not for a link just for PR but that link should be relevent and send some traffic to your site.

Nah, this is not true at all. Just because Google does not show the link, it does not mean it is not being counted or that PR is not passed on.

Theres a site which lists sites that do not pass on pr..sticky me and I'll send you the URL.

It is not true steve. I have not mentioned the word company on my page but still my site ranks well if you add the word company to any keywords. When i check the google cache from the results it shows that "company" found in the links pointing to this site. And i believe this is not the only case.

I dont understand why you people still care about the PR. Links to your website is what matters right now. I would recommend you to advertise, but first, check to see if your text link will be a "direct one" (meaning, if your url will be in the source code of the pages), or it will be fed through a script. If the latter is the case - dont bother.

Googles basis of its algo is relevancy, so utilize it the best way you can.
