Has anyone noticed a shift in their search engine referal traffic the past couple of days. My content is coming up all over the place in Google and Yahoo and I'm quite pleased (700% increase). Could this be a fluke of the week?

Hello:

A few months back, I found my main page on the very
first page of Google results for my particular
one-word keyword. Usually (like now) I'm in the
middle of page 3, generally around #25.

For two days, hits went thru the roof. It had to be
some kind of temporary algorithm tweek or similar
fluke. You didn't mention your placement in the
serps, that's the first place I'd check.

Don't be surprised if all this evaporates! - Larry

I keep hearing about the SERPS alot on these forums. Where can you check these? Or does it refer to your general Google position?

Initially some pages were within the top 5 results, then dropped completely, some came back, now a lot of pages are mostly top 5 for targeted keywords.

I noticed a shift in my position yesterday morning for a very competitive keyword phrase in Google. Not sure if the spot will hold, and if could just be a tweak shift short term. Hopefully not, only time will tell...

SERPS simply refers to the search engine rank position for your term.

AFAIK SERPs stands for Search Engine Result Pages :)

georgiek50, if your site is 2-3 months old what you are seeing may be your site getting out of the sandbox.

I definitely received a nice punch of something 2 days ago that boosted my position for every keyphrase I am after. Some from page 2 to position #3. I think it was due to some tweaking that I have been doing though. At least I hope it was due to the tweaking because I would like to think I have a clue as to why I am now ranking high.
