200 million searches

This number has not changed in months

If I remember it right, google claims "200 million searches" for many months now. Atleast since I have started Adwords campagin (Jan 2004).

I just wonder why this number has not changed after Yahoo dropped them?

My guess is that the number represents actual Google searches. Either that, or possibly the number of searches represented across the network of partner sites running AdWords (including their sites) - exclusive of Yahoo.

I don't know where the figure comes from but that's what I'd guess it to be, and I'd assume it could be that high as a conservative figure, just for Google's own sites alone.

All figures that G gives out are checked by there PR or legal department. A few weeks ago I read a nice article about that, though it's only free available in the cache now:
