My new site has had its root page indexed only, this page has a page rank of 2 but when i search for link:www.mysite.com no results are returned.
Is PR calculated by the number and quality of sites linking to you?
Is this the correct way to search for back links? Is there any other method of finding out which sites link to you? I know my site is listed in the inktomi index as my site appears in some yahoo searches and the inktomi bot is spidering my site.
thanks,
Nick
Google routinely doesn't show links from pages of less than about PR4 in a link: request, so you could well have a link or two - and it appears you do - from pages that are less than PR4.
They may even be from your host on a 'meet our clients' page or some such.
