benefiting from PR of a new domain

Having bought a domain, how do I benefit from its listing?

I am well listed already in Google, but recently bought a domain name from another well listed site.

I want to make sure that my site inherits the PR of the new domain.

1. If I just point the new domain to my home page, would I inherit the PR of the new domain?

2. At present it points to a page which says "Ive just acquired this domain" and then redirects to my Home page. I'd prefer to keep that message, at least for a while. Is there a way of doing that and inheriting the PR?

3. Should I LINK to the new domain somewhere on my site?

bluegrass, let me make sure im understanding u right, so u want to try and keep the PR that the previous owners of the domain aquired, or your saying that u just want to build PR on this new domain

i think you can' keep the pr after changing hands on the domain ownership.

Google has been removing the PR for EXPIRED domains, not resold domains.

If you bought the domain from someone, and it has never 'expired' then you should maintain the PR as long as the incoming links don't get removed.

Yes, you should.

2. At present it points to a page which says "Ive just acquired this domain" and then redirects to my Home page. I'd prefer to keep that message, at least for a while. Is there a way of doing that and inheriting the PR?

Meta refreshes used to pass PR. Uncertain now. Keep only a link to your site on the page and you will get most of the PR. Not sure I'd play around with the meta refresh myself as google can penalize this if considered cloaking.

3. Should I LINK to the new domain somewhere on my site?

No.
