Prior to the FL. update we had decent positioning accross the board with these sites. Then after the FL update our positioning slowly decreased and decreased until now where we basically have little to no G traffic at all. We still have excellent PR's accross the board, yet the positioning is beyond brutal.
Originally we had all these sites on one IP. (managed dedicated server) Then about 2-3 months ago (after the FL update), we split all the sites up accross 10 IPs. However the IP is still the the same class. ie. 70.62.x.x
We do cross link the sites, but never from the same IP to the same IP. And the links never exceed 10-15 per page.
Almost all of the sites all are well constructed with plenty of unique content and no blackhat seo techniques are used. ie. no hidden text, no over repeating keywords, etc...
So... my question is this; is it possible we have tripped some sort of Google IP filter?
We are beyond frustrated with the lack of positioning in G, especially compared to what we are currently seeing in the Google serps for our cat's. We have never seen more template sites, with little to no unique content, ranking so well.
And looking at the competitors backlinking, we are seeing links from unrelated sites, forums, etc... so our linking structure couldn't be causing the problems.?
I am beginning to think it's our IP's causing the problems. But my partners think that if that were the case we would have no positioning at all, and we wouldn't have such good PR's accross the sites. We haven't really seen a major update since the new
linking/IP changes so it could be all better if G would ever have a major update. Even with last weeks changes there have been no major changes in our cats serps.
Any suggestions on this would most appreciated before we have to go find some sturdy rafters for the team. :-)
