Main keyphrase in serps is all over the place?

I am very close to getting a main keyphrase back on the 1st page of the serps but am noticing some strange behavior lately. I managed to get my main keyphrase to the top of page 2 in the serps but it is only there for part of the day. The other part of the day it is on page 15. It bounces back and forth from the top of page 2 to page 15? I am sure there are allot of reasons for this but does anyone have any idea what's going on here?

This happens frequently with google. Take a read through the [url= [webmasterworld.com...] forum charter[/url] to read up more on freshbot, alternating datacenters, etc.

Their index is being continuosly refreshed, so not all computers that serve queries have exactly the same info at any given time.
