Can 404 on some pages cause google to not crawl other pages as well?

after redesigning, google is not crawling 2nd level pages.

When I initially launched my web site, I created 8-9 pages, all linked from the home page. Bought a yahoo directory listing and google crawled all the pages within few days.

Soon I realized that those pages was a bad design, and I removed all those pages. I did recreate 2 new pages, which are not linked from my home page.

Now I have more than 50 incoming links added by people who visted my site from my google adwords (no reciprocal links), but the 2 new pages I added are still not crawled / indexed (Home page is still zero and allinanchor:mydomainname does not return any of those 50 links). I added these two new pages a month ago and google did crawled the home page after that.

Can this symptom of Google not crawling the level 2 pages be related to the fact that other 8-9 pages listed in Google are returning 404 and google bot thinks that this site is not stable yet (high 404 ratio) OR this is just related to my ZERO PR on home page. (Home page is visited once in 4 weeks).

Thanks

Sdani, it's probably related to your low home page PR and the lack of content. I'm a bit confused - the two pages ARE linked from the home page, right? Keep working on links and adding more content, and you'll get spidered more often and more deeply.

Thanks for the response. YES the two pages ARE linked from the home page. I also thought for a long time that it was related to low PR on home page, but today just realised that my original 8-8 pages were crawled when I launched the site and even then my home page was PR 0.

Anyway, I am getting about 2 links everyday, so lets see what happens after few months. I am quite happy with Adwords results and don't think that home page PR would increase number of visitors, but to see a green bar on my home page would make me happy :) and probably give some credibility to the web site.

Thanks
