But why does the New Zealand Google [google.co.nz...] have the Australian Army Slouch hat with the upturned leaf instead of the New Zealand Army "Lemon Squeezer" Slouch hat? It would not have taken a lot of effort for Google to create a New Zealand hat instead of just coping the Australian one.

And given that I have only just seen this at 12:30pm on the 26th (NZ time) maybe they need to use a different time zone for countries in this part of the world. Not even a day off work this year with a Sunday Anzac Day. :-(

olwen: maybe Google is confused because the Australians celebrate ANZAC day on the Monday instead of the Sunday. :)

No, Anzac day is always observed on the correct date, but if it falls on the weekend then the following Monday is a public holiday. A noble gesture by Google and appreciated very much.

However, a small point, but the Flanders Poppies used for the O are associated with Remembrance Day, 11th Nov, and not Anzac day. A common misunderstanding.

Still, very nice to see a very important day for Australia recognised in this way.

Could it be that Google is thinking like Americans? In the US, Veterans Day (11 Nov, what we call Remembrance Day) most Americans observe it just on the Monday holiday, not the calendar day.
