Currently I have a popunder on my site that opens up the website of a partner of mine. This popunder brings in a rather large amount of revunue because it is highly targetted towards the visitors of my website. So I am curious if google will penalize me for this.

We don't penalize for popups/popunders.

One pop-up or pop-under is not a big deal, but two or three of them definitely are.

Also: It would be cool if one day, Google would be able to identify websites that trigger drive-by installations, Gator and other installation prompts, etc., and penalize them.

"Google would be able to identify websites that trigger drive-by installations....... and penalize them."

Would be preferable that government/legislative bodies handle this. It will happen in due time.

Hopefully those of us whose online businesses are adversely affected by spyware pests can hang on until the good day comes.

I'm not bothered by popups or popunders because I browse through privoxy and don't allow for any type of popup/under.

In fact, thanks to the obnoxious advertising, it is easier for me to just let it block all ad images, which hurts the income of those that are happy with simple banner ads.

But I do agree that if a site does obnoxious things, and google can detect it, that they have every right to serve up their users a list of sites that do not participate in obnoxious advertsing techniques.

What I wish is that websites information would stop using those obnoxious little click JS popup windows with information on their products. Just open it in the current f-ing window, where I want it. And have you ever noticed that the sites that do that only put up little blurbs instead of any real information?
