The new site has now been indexed, and the Homepage now has a page rank of 8. However the interior pages have a page rank of zero - so they don't come up well at all in terms of search term rankings. However, I do know that they have been indexed.
Many of the interior pages have text links on the Homepage. The links work fine - so I would assume that the interior pages would "borrow" page ranking from the Homepage. There is also a sitemap on all of the pages including the Homepage.
Is the zero interior page rank due to:
a)not enough time for Google to appropriately spider the site?
b)redirects somehow polluting the spidering effort?
c)any other ideas?

That's exactly it. The homepage URL being the same with existing inbound links, it's expected that would be reflected, but for the brand new pages you have to give it a couple of months for proper spidering and for showing toolbar PR.

Second opinion:
Yes, exactly, no doubt about it.

Is this the same problem, even though my site had previously been fully indexed and ranked?
That Google toolbar is so much of a source of stress and neurotic anxiety for us webmasters that there just might have to be a special definition in psychiatry established one of these days, just for us webmasters who watch our PR.
It would probably be classified as an obsessive/compulsive disorder, and they'd be right! ;)
Give it time, it'll show up.
example.com/product.asp?pid=2
now i have made a new one page for new products
example.com/product.asp?pid=3
This new page has PR 5, and is also indexed by google just two days back, but still it is not showing up in results on google search?
Any idea if the page has been ranked at PR 5 or its just some error
