Move up in rankings

on the first page but how about 1st pos

Hi,
I have a pharmacy related site that has a PR of 6 and we feature on the 1st page of google.
We would like to move up and we have tried a lot of stuff, but we still are on square one.
We have bought links on high PR sites, we have 200/400 back links with sites having PR 4+,but still are on square one

Any one, any ideas.
