how can i incress hits on a page with no text. my page is all graphics, is there any way to try to get some google hits?

If you’re positively certain that your normal visitors don’t need any text, you can try using layers to satisfy text-only viewers and SE. Put your text information in a layer below that of the flash or whatever else you have going on.

Of course, if you are using .jpgs or .gifs, you should also use ALT tags with descriptive text of the image.

The most effective approach is going to be by putting text on your page. Of course, it may not matter anyway -- you may get hits, but people won't wait around for three meg of graphic navigation buttons to download. That's what the "back" button on the browser is for.

If your site is really inherently graphics-intensive, then you should consider a "thumbnailing" approach, so that people could read what the site has to offer without waiting for the movie. If it's just gratuitous graphics glitz, then you should just reconsider.

Have you ever looked at an EFFECTIVE website that was all graphics? Compare google.com and msn.com -- which one has visitors return by choice?

Arrange for incoming links that have suitable anchor text, that is, containing the keywords that you want people to find you with.

Frankly, though, I'd reconsider the page design if I were you. Does an all-graphics design really have enough benefits to you to outweigh the difficulties in search-engine indexing and the long download times for viewers?

I know you posted here in the Google forum, but by all means consider other forms of traffic before adding dry, boring text. If its a photo gallery type situation the different phot mega sites I have found will send a lot of 'traffic'. The quotes mean it is only traffic, not conversion. They just want to see pics and suck bandwidth. But that's cheap nowadays. Be familiar with .htaccess because I've been ringing up a lot of 403's since I added their links. If you are only interested in 'hits' rather than relevant traffic that opens up a lot of sources as well. If it's flash your using I would consider a separate page for those failing the flash detection dooscriptey.
