PageRank Update Question

How often does the pagerank bar in the browser update? Daily, weekly, every few months? I recently added a page to my site that is linked internally and externally but it still has no pagerank as far as that little bar shows. The page has been up for a few weeks now so it has definitely been hit by the spiderbot.

Google has been updating the PageRank values displayed in the toolbar about once a month. Last time was, I believe, about 2 weeks ago.

I put up a bunch of pages with new content about 3 weeks ago, and I noticed this morning that the bot visited it, and if I do an "inurl:" of my domain, I get all of my pages in the results.

However, the Pagerank is still 0 for ALL of these new pages and they don't show up on the SERPs at all for the phrases they're targetting (well, at least not in the top 100).

Is there any tool I can use to check my position on Google?

I wouldnt count on it being in two weeks, the one before last was nearly 9 weeks apart. Then again, who knows!

D'oh! Silly me....what's the update that Google does around the middle of every month?

Its a bit all over the place at the moment, for me i have been getting my deep crawl showing up in the SERPS about 2-3 weeks into each month, which i get a week before that.

The page rank update happens completely independantly from that, its a different set of machines/programs that calculate it.

I've had a page rank update today, moving down from PR6 to PR5, so I am hoping for some fluctuation. Also have seen a PR7 site that I work on get reduced to PR6.

I don't see any Pagerank update here either, though on the SERPs, I can see that something (or someone) from Google did visit it yesterday.

This is something which has become very uncertain with google lately. But definately it takes a minimum of 20 days. Some times it may take as long as 3 months to get a PR update. I think it basically depends upon:
1) How many pages are linking to your site and at what pace.
2) what is the quality of those pages which are linking to you. Here with quality i mean what is the pr of those pages and how often they are indexed by google.
cross your fingers, if you are lucky you'll soon see a pr update.

Thanks WebNewton. My site is new, and I'm adding inward links and content everyday, and I can see a new date when I look up my pages every morning, but the PageRank is zero so far. I hope I won't have to wait too long for a PR!

My two year old site had a problem (not sure what it was!), which caused it to be dropped from the SERPS at the end of January. My pages remained in the index with no titles or cache and my page rank remained solid at 5 for about four or five weeks after this before dropping to zero. During the last week the Googlebot returned and about half of my pages are now indexed again.

Google is still reporting no inbound links although I have about 200 of these. Can anyone who has been through this tell me what the process will be with regard to Google once more recognising my inbound links, reinstating my PR and how long this will take?

I've got the same question too. I've got about 180 verified inward links - most of which were added within the last month (after the last update), but only 11 of them show up when I do a check and it's been this way for a month. When does Google check for inward links?

Google usually shows backlinks with PR3-4 and above. In my case, PR4 and above.

There is a correlation between you current Google PR and the fequency of its visits and updates you will get.

Once you are a PR4 and above you will get more attention. Beware, you mentioned that you have created over 100 inbound links.

Google rewards your web site when all those links have related content. In fact, the latest rumor from Google is that they reward you more for more inbound links than reciprocal linking.

hmm...so far so good....I don't have many non-reciprocal inward links (almost none actually!), but my links are very legit, ALL are related to the content of my website - some have decent Pagerank. I hope my optimism isn't misplaced!
