Google de-indexing home page, but not other pages

Has anyone seen a situation where Google de-indexes a high ranking home page but still has the other website pages in the Google index? The home page and all the other pages have retained their repective GPR.

Yep, That exact thing happened to me my home page is gone. everything else still intact. What is going on? PR on home page still 8 but thats the only page missing from my site in googe.

Is the index page out of the index altogether, or just buried?

It is gone for my main term, but showing on other terms. Doesn't appear to be a ban or penalty unless it is keyword specific.

How do you judge de-indexing?
Simillar thing has happened to me in the past. I don't think it is deindexing. The page rank gets grayed out but google has the index somewhere. I think it has something to do with adding new subdomains and is straightened out in a few days.
Have any of you added new sub-domains?

I'm having same problem all my sites are no where to be seen in google search engine. It use to be in top 10 listing but i can't see my site anymore could anyone help me out on that

Money words are now blocked and filtered, especially on the root of a domain. PR is not going to get your site through the Google mom-and-pop filter (florida, austin, brandy, seattle, yeaahahahaaa! google pulls a howard dean and goes totally nuts). It does look real nifty in the Google toolbar however, for whatever that is worth.

My site is indexed except for the home page. If you type in my domain name www.widgets.com I am no where to be found but if you do a search in google for all poages that contain the name of my site all of my other pages are indexed just not the domain name page. Does anyone know why that could be or if it is just temporary?

Same problem I'm facing earlier i use to have all the pages. I tried seeing even in google dance on search criteria but nothing is happeneing. Where are my pages gone all of sudden.
Are they going to comeback in few days time or never going to be back

Unless Google has banned your domain index page for being a major bugger (that would be strange if they did not ban the entire site) you should be able to recover a page by simply linking other pages to it. Will that get the page back to the top 10? No, the Google filter will still apply so you will also have to get past that.

Go read up on the 'Google florida filter' which by chance happens to filter on the most popular 'commercial phrases' AKA 'money words' at a time when Google is supposedly raising cash to go public.

That is when all of this started. Some people believe the filter being used by Google might be the 'hilltop' algo which tries to use supposed 'expert' pages such as DMOZ and others to filter for 'better' results (in theory). There are many indications that it is the Hilltop algo being used for the filter.

Could this instead just be an innocent grand folly into testing the nutty Hilltop algo? It is possible, but the perception of Google doing it for financial gain ahead of their going public is a strong one. The effect to mom-and-pop businesses is the same regardless of motive and the fact that Google has stood by the poor filter for so long even after seeing the very damaging effects of small businesses who are being locked out of Google for natural search terms (i.e. city state profession) supports the greed motive.

I see what you mean now. However, I think the Google florida filter which targeted some commercial terms has died a death. It was too strong and I believe google back peddled big time. Many sites that were affected are now back as pre florida with no changes to their pages. At the time, reducing duplicate occurances of a keyword phrase within recognised optimisation techniques helped some sites. But it seems that many people who just waited and did nothing got their rankings back anyway.

Missing home pages is a different problem.

I had same thing happen - for 18 months I was listed in top ten and now I have disappeared entirely - Google even says no sites link to me which is not correct -
Any thoughts?

Same here too... using the backwards links option on the toolbar gives me 4 backwards links, all 4 linking to the site in question are from other sites I own. What is that? However, a keyword search for "mysite" does list all sites that have reciprocal links with me.
Still haven't figured this one out.

I had the same problem and now the only backlinks I show are new one. All my previous (PR4 and higher ones) are no where to be found.

As an aside,
PR4 seems to come up (in the many threads I have read) as the breakthrough rank. Has anyone ever encountered a PR5 site? I have not, but I know they must exist. Would someone please sticky me a PR5 site? I don't think they will let you post the actual URL here. This may seem silly but I honestly have never come across a half-way-there site.

I'm such a horses %#$ sometimes I swear. I have a PR5 site, LOL just haven't checked it in a while. I'm sort of a build 'em and leave 'em type of person. Oh well, will move on to more inventive ways to humiliate myself now!
