Has the registrar left the site resolving pending their receipt of your check, or is the site off line now?

As long as you renew it in the allowed time.(approx 20 days after the actual expiry date).
It may affect your postion temporarily if google notices the site down but your position should come back.
If the name actually drops from your hold and you have to register it again then you may be affected. If you put up the same whois info and the same content back on I am pretty sure it will come back.Although saying that, it seems that google is concentrating on expired domains at the moment so things may change.

Marcia,
I just checked and it is still online. If they do not receive payment within 40 days after expiration, they stated domain names are automatically deleted and released to the Registry.

They automatically hold domain names if they are not renewed by the expiration date, which was yesterday.

So cabbie, you are correct about an allowed time. The site is still on the server so I don't know how this affects my site in that regard.

Thanks to both of you.
