well for one thing counters have _noscript_ tags that link back in their code. links are recognized. Its more a matter of placing spammy links, not just a deserved or worthwhile link.

do a query on google for link:http://extreme-dm.com/tracking/ and see what I mean.

wouldn't advise you to spam Google by putting hidden links in noscript. Sure an employee of Google got warned against the practice.

Please explain.

I normally build my navigation menus in Flash. The .swf file is called up in an external JavaScript file which also detects the Flash player and serves up alternative content for visitors who don't have the player.

Beneath the code for the external JavaScript file are, contained within noscript tags, the html for all the links contained in the .swf file - again, alternative content for visitors who don't have JavaScript enabled.

None of this is spam. In fact it makes my pages more accessible, so why would it make me a bad neighbourhood?

These links do both get crawled & pass PR (from what I can tell).

I used them on my site for months when I had .js menu. I wouldn't bother using them to be deceptive, only use them if it makes sense i.e. for a .js alternative.
