Google Penalties & Duplicate contact

Hello, I tried to search for these but had trouble viewing with our new membership.
I have two questions.

1. How can I check to see if we have any google penalties on any of our pages. We move from one hosting vendor to another and all of the new products added on the new vendor shop up and rank well. Products that previously existed on the old vendor site are not evening showing up when searched for. If I look at the all in url I see a lot of pages from the old site that do not exist any more. The new site automaticly directs these to the front page.

2. We have several products that are available in many colors and currently there is a page for each color. this is good for the customer, but how does google like this since the content is 90% the sames.

The pages in question we are either not showing up or getting placed way behind sites that use no keywords have little text.
