I have been an avid follower of WW for just over a year but I have never posted before mainly because by digging I have managed to find the answers to my questions. Anyhow this time I kindly request some interaction.

‘Widget’ is translated into 11 different languages, with each language having either its own dedicated domain name www.widget.fr (PR6) or subdomain www.ru.widget.com (PR6)

7 of the 11 ‘Widget’ sites cross link to each other from the home page (only) and 4 of the ‘Widget’ sites do not directly cross link to avoid it becoming a link farm.

The first observation is that www.widget.com (PR6) only registers backlinks from other ‘Widget’ sites that have a sub-domain i.e www.fr.widget.com (PR6) and does not register backlinks from dedicated 'Widget' domains like www.widget.de (odd!)

The second observation is that www.widget.de (PR7) has never registered any backlinks from any of the other ‘Widget’ sites and get it’s PR 7 solely from 20 non related ‘Widget’ inbound links (really odd!)

If I am not mistaken Google is screening certain specific Widget’s backlinks depending on if they are dedicated domains or sub-domains of ‘Widget’.

The other thing is, of the 20 or so external sites that www.widget.de links to (10 outbound from the home page and 10 outbound from the internal links page) none of the sites www.widget.de links to show www.widget.de as a backlink! Can this mean www.widget.de is not passing PR to partner linked sites?

The sites are all in html, without frames and the links are absolute and not hidden. Overall I have about 40 (PR3+) external inbound backlinks links (most point just to the .com and the .de). All sites have had either a PR5 or PR6 for eight months with www.widget.de out in front with PR7.

If you can follow this please advise ; )

Thx 4 the post dazzlindonna

All sites have been well indexed for over 12 months. Google has in the past registered the all the back links from all the ‘Widget’ sites regardless of the ‘Widgets’ domain or sub-domain. Now this seems to have changed.

Certain ‘Widget’ sites with their own domain do not pick up back links from other ‘Widget’ sites but they do pick up some links from ‘Widget’ sites with sub-domains.

And now one of these sites, www.widget.de does not register any incoming links from any of the ‘Widget’ sites. This site has the highest PR of 7 yet oddly it is not passing on or receiving PR from any of the other widget sites. Its also is not passing PR on to external link partners! NB The internal linking is fine for all sites.

I can only conclude that Google may have altered their alogos over the past 6 months and are now screening links deriving from related domains. But that won’t explain why www.widget.de is not passing on PR

Please tell me that this is just a temporary Google brrrrrp.

<jocelynd> Tried and tested that theory and it not that.
