Can frames be combined with Google?

Could some one please explain to me if it is advisable or not to use frames when trying to be found by Google? I thought it was not advisable but some people say there is no problem using frames, but they can't explain me why. I always thought that the content of frames cannot be seen by Google (not in cache). But is that true?

I've got a site with frames indexed by Google. But there is no title or text from the body, making the listing useless.

For my past experience, developing good noframes tag, work well also in GG.

The trick is to ensure that all links point to non-frame pages and use javascript to ensure that pages reload themselves into the correct frameset.

With a good deal of extra time and effort you can get framed sites to work on SE's.

What you need to think long and hard about is if all the extra work and scripts are actually worth doing because at the end of the day you are greatly restricting what your visitors can do anyway.

The solution I use has no problem bookmarks. It has no problem with lack of javascript (but the user has to use alternative links rather than the intended links to navigate). I doubt anyone ever prints pages from my site - if doesn't work, I don't care. As for NoFrames - this can be supported but I don't bother anymore.

Frames and Google can be made to mix. Other search engines spider framesets and their contents without problems, Google will eventually.
