Yahoo Factor?

Lately - the G results seems to be seedier.... Is it possible that Google is de-valueing sites listed in Yahoo directory?

I don't think that Google would devalue links from Yahoo!. After all it's still a large, human powered directory so its vote (PageRank and anchor text) should count as much as anyone's.

I kind of expected Yahoo! not to get a mention on Google's webmaster pages after the switch, but it seems I was wrong.

At the time of writing this post, you can see the previous note about Yahoo in Google's cache [googlesite.google.com] (bottom of page).

"Google partners on the Web include Yahoo! and Netscape" is now "You may want to consider submitting your site to Yahoo! or Netscape".

If they could... they would ...

while they are no doubt working on this ...

They probably just devalued you for being too relevant to the search query!

This all sounds far too conspiritorial. I think the answer is a definite no :)

I doubt it.
I have a site #2 in yahoo search and #5 in google
search for the same keyword.

Site is listed in Yahoo dir and DMOZ.

Do Yahoo Directory links actually pass Page Rank - they are not pure html links.

I have noticed something with the Yahoo Directory as Google backlinks that I have not seen before (it may have been there before and I just did not notice) - but, several sites I checked Google backlinks on were showing backlinks from all the regional versions of the Yahoo Directory..
ie for one site its backlinks came from the same category as each of these regional directories of Yahoo:
asia.dir.yahoo.com
sg.dir.yahoo.com
uk.dir.yahoo.com
dir.yahoo.com
in.dir.yahoo.com
ca.dir.yahoo.com

So the 299 bucks appears to have got them 6 PR5 backlinks.
