Sorry about the inane question which has probably been asked a zillion times. How do I know if Googlebot has visited my website?

Also, my site is not indexed on Google yet, though an older site was visited and it shows 'March 16' on the SERPs. The dance that just happened - was it a Fresh crawl or a deep crawl? Anybody know when there's going to be a dep crawl?

Thanks! This forum is amazing.

To check if you've been spidered, search for Googlebot in your log files. These are typically accessed via the website control panel provided by your host.

So far as "dances" are concerned, the fashionable word is "updates". I don't think even Google know much in advance when a new update is going to occur be it large or small. You could keep an eye on results from www2.google.com (and www3) but there is no certainty that such results will become mainstream.

Don't worry about when updates and spiders are due just spend your time creating a clean and useful site and getting as many backlinks as you can. Right now, placing keywords in urls (page/directory names) is useful, but that may not continue.
