I read this forum with great interest and just wanted an answer to a few questions.

How benificial is it to link words in my home page body text to roots within my website?

I have gif links to product pages, are they read as page links by the google bots?

Does google frown upon links with other sites less than a pr3?

No, it just gives them less weight.

Let me put it this way:

Forced to choose between a $100 bill and a $5 bill you would choose the $100 bill. If you were not forced to choose, you would take both.

In getting links you do not need to choose (subject, of course, to the limitations of time). So take all the legitimate links you can get (that excludes link farms).
