When in the UK what's the difference between searching on google.uk "the web", google.uk "pages from the UK" and google.com?

For one search phrase I see .uk "the web" & .com returning the same page 1 results (uk & international sites) but different from .uk "pages from the UK" and with another phrase all page 1 results are the same (uk sites only - there used to be intl. sites too).

Google includes a site in the UK search if either domain is .uk or hosting is on uk-ip address

thanks bignet,

Why doesn't .com show international results for some phrases though? (I don't mean phrases where only UK results are expected). Is anybody else seeing this in their sectors?

I have a site hosted on a .com, in the US which is showing loads of really nice 1st (and 2nd) place positions on Google.com

Yet, search on google.co.uk (pages from UK) and we are nowhere (same results for all web on .uk as .com).

We are now setting up mirrors all over the world to catch international searchers... its a right pain!

Seems you've got to either have an international domain and/or internationally hosted site (pref. both)
