Ok, one of our hosting companies has had some major problems since Sunday and a few of our sites have been down since then. So besides loosing the income from the sites for a few days, how long will Google keep trying site that has been in the index and keeps giving a site not found error before it gets dropped from the index?

longest downtime I experienced without problems for Google was 38 hours. But the site has a high PR, so there might be a different rule.

Doubt if it will have any affect at all.

Don't panic. The Googlebot comes round time and time again. It even comes round when you wish it would stop :) I wouldn't be worried. It's like a dog with a favourite tree.

I have a few sites, our disgustingly pathetic web host went down for 7 days straight, best days of the year too. dec. 24-jan 1st. Joy!

Didn't have any problems with any of them, 2 PR7s that get crawled 25/30 days a month, and many PR3-6's that only get crawled 1-2 Xs a month.

No problem with any of them, bots can tell whether the site is gone or just temporarily out of service.

My site was down for 24 hours about 2 weeks ago. As a result, my listings were dropped for a day or so until Googlebot returned and saw my site back up. Listings returned with the next fresh tag update.

The listings may not come back to normal as soon if the downtime exceeds 4 to 5 days. Otherwise there should be no problem.
