I'd like to report a documented case of google optimization using the new relevancy factors.
I've been seing people coming to my site from odd queries, but when these queries are optimized for, they can pull some decent traffic.
For example, I wrote a page about "blue fuzzy widgets."
Instead of seeing traffic for that key phrase, I've been seeing users coming to my site from queries such as:
"making catchy blue fuzzy widgets"
"how blue fuzzy widgets work"
etc.
And those are google logs, not ask.com or anything else. Also seeing some traffic coming in on MSN for optimized keywords, it seems if you can make top positions for your keyword on Ink (not very hard) you'll get tons of traffic from Inktomi sites. Not to mention the new MSN engine using Ink and Yahoo also using some Ink now too.
Anyways, it seems that since Google is going to own 50% of the search engine world, you'll want to learn how to use some of these new optimization strategies for yourself.
I can see this going on with other searches too, you may not get traffic exactly for your optimized keywords.
It seems that more and more people are becoming "smarter searchers." These smarter searchers are using Google to find more specific information on their keywords.
At least that's what I'm seeing in my industry - except that I do cater to webmasters, so that might change the perspectives of some.
Is anyone else seeing that they're getting decent traffic from smarter searches?
Or is it just me..
