Hi,

Is there anyone who can enlightened me on why there's a decrease in the number of webpages of my site being indexed on Google at some time?

My initial guess will be there's a number of dead pages or they are removed from the site, so Google dropped them.

Will it affect the number of pages being indexed if the number of searches in the previous is low or none and Google drop them since no one is searching them?

Many thanks! Looking forward to your response.

..there's a decrease in the number of webpages of my site being indexed..

By "indexed", do you mean the no. of pages Google's got
cached for your site? In my experience, it takes Google a long time to flush 404's, etc. from the cache it has of a site; as sometimes >6-7 months.

Try this search: "site:www.my-domain.com -qwerty" and see how many pages Google has stored in it's document "barrels" for your site. If it's shy, try putting a site map up if you don't already have one, and linking to it off the top somewhere of *every page.

HTH :)

Sorry about the wrong use of terms, when I mentioned "indexed", I mean "cached".

But when I do a search like allinurl:mydomain.com, the number of pages decreases from the previous month. The number I'm referring to is in "Results 1 - 10 of about 173,000". Does this query give the number of pages being cached or does it have another meaning?

Thanks!
