Dropped from Google

How long to get back in?

My site (pr6) was down during the last update and was dropped from Google. It sill has all its backlinks. How long for it to get back in? Will it suffer a penalty for having been down during the update?

*bump* I'm unsure how Google works in these situations. Do I have to wait until the next update, or will "everflux" put my site back in the index?

I'd check your logs to see if googlebot is still coming around.

If he is, I would think that it'll only be out for a week or two - at least the main page. If you've got a lot of pages, it might be quite a bit longer before google hits your site with a deep crawl and gets all those pages re-indexed.

Yeah I'v had the exact same problem.

For 2 weeks now, I'v been nowhere on the SERPS. At first, I put it down to my pages not being updated in the index... Now, today I made up a chart and marked off all my pages that were updated on the 9th Feb. About 98% of pages have been updated but still are nowhere to be seen on the SERPS even though my logs show G-bot going through my pages.

Something is wrong, I did a search for one of my main keywords (a type of produce I sell) and the site that came out on top had 1 page with 1 paragraph of info, with that keyword mentioned only twice.

Tbh, I'm pretty dissapointed with the SERPS atm, silly little sites with lack of relevance seem to be getting to the top and I can't explain why :E I have checked backlinks and keyword density, all the normal things that should be checked, and I can find no answer.

I agree....some people said Google is taking off commercial sites which is wrong when you find out fo the top 10 about 4 or 5 sites with that keyword and much less info than oyur site and the other or 5 in the top 10 offer no information at all or are way off topic of the searched term... Try Alltheweb or Altavista......believe me I want Google to change back or find another way to get rid of spam, doorway & mirrored sites. There are good commercial sites who shouldn't suffer b/c of more than a few SEO spammers.

I don't know, it's been over a week since the site was back up and running. The mainpage is not yet back in Google. Surprisingly a few of the pages with their own backlinks are still in the index, but not all.

i had the exact same thing happen.... 2 weeks ago, completely dropped out of G. Big site, PR6, lots of pages, lots of content... little dinky pages with no content & PR1 appearing in the relusts...

Glad it's working out for everyone else. I checked the 64x and still no mention of my site. Still got all the backlinks if you type in www.widgetnet.com. So why am I not getting back in the index?

The same with me. But as some people pointed out this is an update of the algo what we see on 64* , not an data update.
As far as I cn see, the new results are using the same old data. And for example I'm waiting for some pages, that were spidered 2 weeks ago to appear, but G still uses the old cache. I have a MIA site too and I'm hoping with the data update of the index that shoud occure soon the site will be back.

Well, I'm finally back in Google. But the homepage dropped from a PR6 to a PR3. I know it was down during an update but this seems rather harsh. About half the pages are back in the index, but the rest are MIA. I could see why Google drops dead links, but should getting back in be so hard? Is it a penalty or an oversight in the algorithym?

Come on Google, why you be slammin on "widgetnet" I swear they be totally representin' on the internet, the spammers be frontin', knumean?

If you have backlinks that point to internal pages, and those pages were down when your site was crawled and the PR was calculated, then the links on those pages to your home page will not count towards your PR.

I had 70 indexed pages (about 30 were subdomains) on a domain. That was 2 days ago. Now it's down to 8. It looks like only pages that have at least one external link stayed in the index.

Oops, I meant to make that clear, that it seems that pages with at least one link coming to them from an external site stayed in.

Well, I can't complain no more, as of today my PR6 is back for the main page. Some of the other pages lost a little PR, but overall I appear to be back to my January position.

How can you find out if Google is checking your site. I was coming up on the first page of my keyword searches for a year and a half. Since Jan I am nowhere to be found. This is not a good time for my business to not be showing up as now is when I need to be there because we are in vacation rental. Help! Someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong.
