[edit reason] Examplified URL. [/edit]
link: www.domain.com -site:www.domain.com
Note the format above 'link:[space]www....'
Not exactly right. If you use the above format...Google will look for the word 'link' + 'www.domain.com' minus your own pages.
What happen to pages linking to your site without the word 'link' in the page itself? Or, what happen to pages linking to your site without 'www.' in the url?
If you use the format 'link:www...' this wouldn't work with the '-site:' operator.
The best way to check for pages linking to you minus your own pages is...
domain.com -site:domain.com
note* the absent of www.
1. This will display all pages that mention 'domain.com' in their pages even if they are not linking to you...good for checking who is talking about your site or even possible copyright violation.
2. This will display all pages that have 'domain.com' in the anchor even if the actual url is some tracking/database/dynamic url...good to know who is linking to you but not sending PR to your site.
3. This will display all pages that have url's pointing to your site with 'domain.com' in it...will even display pages that are below PR4. Remember, 'link' will only display pages that are PR4 and above.
4. No need to check your links from another engine if you just want to know what Google have.
Cheers
