Penalty for having usenet content on your website?

Will google penalize you in the engine if you have newsgroup content on your website (assuming no one else is mirroring it)

Or will it treat it like regular content?

Penalize for having some content? No, I doubt it. Articles are quoted all the time and those sites aren't penalized.

Now, if you are stating you'd like to mirror the usenet..well... that's another story.

Why not take snippets and comment on each? That's better for your users, anyway!

What's the other story? I would like to mirror usenet content as a way of sparking forums discussions.

It shouldn't hurt you. If the title tags, footers, etc. are all different it shouldn't even appear to be identical content.

Most of my searches for technical issues turn up pages like you describe.
