My new website PR was raised from PR1 to PR5 in the last PR update, still I haven't noticed any improvement in serps!

Does it take time for serps to improve or I should lose hope?

Does it worth it to achieve PR5, PR6 or PR7 when people find you in serps by a five words keyword?

Who said that websites that have PR4 get around 300 hit/day and PR6 websites get around 3000 hit/day and so on?

Hoax! My PR5 website barely gets 100 hit/day while another PR5 website gets 17000 hit/day!

And yes, I am very newbie regarding SEO world if you were wondering.

I've heard some stuff through friends just this weekend. They aren't SEOs, but spend lots of time using the web to sell things on eBay. Same thing, switching to MSN because Google seems 'crappy lately'.

It will be cosmic justice if some Google employees find it hard to make mortgage payments around x-mas time next year.

google built their reputation by being the favoured search engine of techies, if they are perceived as 2nd best by the opinion formers, users will surely migrate.

I like Yahoo and noticed several times this week that Yahoo was testing Inktomi results. I hope they make the switch soon. Inktomi is better than Google now. Also, I think if Google starts peeving enough people and loosing traffic that it might have to go back to pre-Florida results. The index wasn't perfect at that time but it was atleast reasonable.

This started for me last week. I have a PHP-Nuke site which is the authority in its small area. When I say authority, I mean as far as real people are concerned, not search engines. It is usually searched for my name. It is mentioned at conferences. It is the start point on its topic for most people through word of mouth.

It was rightly #1 on the topic term until last weekend when it fell off the first page. Yesterday it disappeared altogether. It is still #1 on every other search engine. It has had no SEO done on it whatsoever.

How can that be right? If it was most relevant last week, how can it not be relevant at all this week?

Yes, I too changed my default search last week. Not to MSN though. I prefer Alta Vista. I know others are following suit.

I'm so annoyed about it that I've also put a page on the site of recommended search engines. Until Google starts to rank sites that are relevant, it won't be appearing there. I've put a note to this effect as well.

The only comfort for me is that so many others are in the same boat and so many other have the same view.

You can't afford to rely on Google, but unfortunately many people still do. I would love to see the results that those 50 or so PhDs are using to justify the latest algo. How can so many worthless affiliate sites - and I mean the ones that are merely a list of sites you'd be much better off visiting - and other SE pages be promoted to the top positions?

The results seem relevant enough on MSN and I am not seeing much spam at all in the results I watch. All MSN needs IMO is a spelling correcting facility, a "cached" check, a decent toolbar, and some sort of PageRank related algo and I will be a very happy punter!

I am already telling potential SEO clients that we are no longer optimising for google and now use MSN as a tool to demonstrate our SEO abilities. I do not know if this is what Google want from SEO's and to be completley honest, right now I do not care.

Word will spread >> fast!

Wow, I search and search and cant find anything relevent. GOOGLE OFFICIALLY SUCKS NOW. Not one of the top ten is even remotely close to being an adult web design company. Anyone know any good search engines?

Good bye Google, I am removing my Google Toolbar that I love, but every time I use you for my search your let me down. At one time you were the best, you have been told over and over to change your ways but obvious you do not even see that problem. You can't fix yourself until you admit there is some thing wrong. I wish you the best of luck, you were great. unfortunately you will become just another search engine but I will always remember the good days when you were the best! I am sorry that so many people had to be impacted by your changes.

the updates not even over..
the results i see on all the non english googles look very good & relevant(i see alot of sites pre-florida, getting back where they should be and ranking even better than before).
there's alot of movement on non-english google's atm and i would assume when the update is over // we will be seeing this index rolled over to the .com.
i see alot of terms i personally monitor which dissapeared through-out the last week slowly 1by1 making there way back on the .com & ranking where they rightfully should.

Whats all the griping about? I'm happy my site shows up twice in the serps for the same keyword..onnce on page 3 and once on page 6..LOL But I am kinda ticked off that my stats tracker shows up higher than any of my pages for that same keyword. Now tell me that aint messed up. Get with it Google. These serps are the worst ive seen yet. I was searching for info on a hobby of mine today, and wound up having to go 3,4 and 5 pages deep to find what i was looking for. Funny thing is ATW, and INK had it right at my fingertips.

There's a question I don't think anyone asked. GoogleGuy confirmed that this update was part of a 'process'. Can any light be shed on how long the process will take to complete? (a more than weeks, less than months kind of thing? )

I think the serps are pretty bad, but I'm not ready to give up on Google just yet. Google's been good to me over the years and the least I can do is give them a little latitude to get their ducks in a row.

I would personally have no problem if google returned 10 quality info only sites for a search of -commercial keyword-. That would give webmasters some sort of base point to start from. Wildly bouncing serps may not benefit searchers, webmaster or google.

However, I suspect Google knew this one was going to take a while, hence their removal of the DC dns to stifle the chatter about it.
