Google seems to be following AltaVista's Prism idea. I noticed today they are offering Search Suggestions in place of Spelling Sugestions where the initial search is relatively simple.

For example, searching for "Bread [google.com]" gives the line "Did you mean: bread recipes, daily bread, bread and roses, or something else".

Hitting "Bread Recipes gives "Did you mean: banana bread recipes, bread machine recipes, or something else".

"Bread Machine Recipes" then gives "Did you mean: "bread machine" recipes, vegan bread machine recipies, bread machine pizza dough, or something else", and so on.

Interesting.

This has been going on for a while now - but only on broader terms.

A fun one to search is "42"

Nevermind. It's gone now. It use to return "The answer to life, the universe, and everything"

funny... searching "The answer to life, the universe, and everything" returns 42 on the google calculator now. There use to be more stuff up top.

Come to think of it, multiplying 6 by 9 seems to be what google is up to this week :) (if you don't know what I'm talking about, check out the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy one of these days. It's time well spent)

Yah, this is a little experiment we've been running for a while, Woz. We do stuff like this all the time to see what helps users find info faster. :)

Hey GG, good idea hiding away from the update thread. I don't most folks will think to look here :)

Wasn't that related search suggestion pretty much what the old oingo did? or has it been perfected?

A step closer to themeing?

Also, I'm not actually seeing this on my search results. Tried a search for "bread" several time, but sisn't see the "Did you mean" line!.

Wow! This was the first time I saw it, so I looked for a thread on the subject and couldn't find one. I thought I had a scoop, but then, I didn't go back Four Months! <sigh>

So GG, is this something you have been testing in all countries or only in some parts? This may explain why some are seeing it and others not.
