Large site, small page rank

Any ideas why?

A high profile branded portal site with 100,000's of visitors per month, 11,000+ backlinks, but a page rank of 0. Why is it so? I would have assumed such a site would rank 6-8.

Maybe a redirect? If I go to amazon.com then I also end up with a page with PR0 but the real PR is like PR9 or PR10.

[mysite.com...] is PR5
but
[mysite.com...] is PR0

You might also notice different PR for

[mysite.com...]
vs.
[mysite.com...]

At least I do with my sites.

Two questions:

1) Are you getting traffic from google?
2) Is there anything on the pages that may be consider spam by mistake?

If yes to 1, then don't worry, you are not seeing the real PR.

Thanks takagi for pointing out the obvious which I missed, the domain redirects straight to the cgi-bin, hence the PR0.

In fact every page redirects to the cgi-bin so is there any way of finding the true page rank for a site such as this?

1) Yes
2) I doubt it, plenty of advertising though

We figured this one out.

Try this, test the number of backlinks to [mysite.com...] vs the number of backlinks to [mysite.com...] . The answer should be obvious why PR displays higher for one scenario in comparion to the full url...

To find out the real pagerank of a site that redirects, put the domain in your hoses file pointing back to localhost.

127.0.0.1 www.mydomain.com

It will now show you the page, but it will show you the page rank for that page.
