Should i add links page?

Is it worth risking my page rank?

I have a web site with a PR of 4 for almost all of the pages. My client wants a higher ranking, dont we all, but i was wondering if it was worth adding a links page and exchanging links with similar companies with higher ranking or whatever?
Has anyone had good/bad experiences with this before i add one and decrease the PR and my client gets unhappy etc. etc

It won't make all that much of a difference overall; it's generally considered a good thing to add content and pages to a site. You don't have to link to it from all the pages on the site, and it might be a good idea to call it something other than links.html

It really shouldn't make that much of a difference, and the inbound links will do far more good than you'll lose from linking to some quality sites from just one page.

If you feel the links would be of value to your visitors you should do it. In that case it is always a good idea.

If you are after a ranking increase the links may or may not help depending on their quality, their relation to your site topic, and if you get anyone to reciprocate.

I would not worry at all about losing PR for putting up a links page. These days PR is much lees important than it was.

No harm in trying old style themed based link pages.

I'm in the same boat, home page is PR 5 while all others range from 4 to 0. I included a links page with strategically worded links and it has really proven to be nothing other then just another page.

I have a links page named "links.htm" and it actually does quite well in SERPS. For my main keyword, my front page gets #2 or #3 (fluctuating right now) and my links page gets #20. I have 9 sub-pages of the link page, and each of those has an average of about 10 links on each one, and each link has a description. I think the biggest thing that makes my link pages successful is the description with each link. The main links page has PR5, and i actually have a few external pages linking directly to it. A large number of the more specific search terms that land on my site are actually through my links pages, because they use alternate terms that those other sites use and don't appear elsewhere on my site.
