Index pages - Devalued

Is it just me? I'm not seeing index pages as much

I'm wondering if it's just me, but lately when I do searches in Google, I'm not seeing as many site index pages and tending to see more pages from with-in a site in the search results.

Is the index page being de-valued?

I haven't seen that across the board. Some searches bring up mostly index pages. Others mostly bring up deep-content pages. I can't see any pattern, and am not aware of any major shift in the results in either the short (days to weeks) or long (months) term.
