I seem to get mixed messages about the number of times a word can appear on a page.
Let's say I optimize my homepage for <high quality widgets> but I sell all kinds of Widgets.
I have my keyword phrase 6 times on my homepage. Because I sell many kinds of widgets, liberal use of the word is unavoidabble in headings, content, navigation, links etc.
Let's say the word <widget> appears 70+ times. Will google nail me for this? Its really hard to say hey, I have some cool "bright orange" ones on special if their just that, a widget.
Apologies if this is dealt with somewhere here but this forum is BIG!
Best regards to all.

Well, if you have a page that just has 70 lines of text, each with a widget phrase and an affiliate link then I guess a human review might not be too favourable.
Generally though, I think people worry far too much about using the words they're writing about. IMO, keyword density is neither a sin, nor particularly advantageous in terms of Google ranking.
