Getting lots of PageRank from my affiliates

Inbound links pointing to affiliate URL

Hi guys.
We all know that inbound links are extremely important. But does it matter if our inbound links goes to the domain itself or some affiliate link?
Cause I can use my affiliates to get me lots of inbound links hence PageRank if it doesn't matter where da inbound link is pointing to.

e.g. www.mysite.com or www.mysite.com/affiliate.cgi?45365
Does it matter at all?

Yes, it matters (see this thread [webmasterworld.com]).

If you can't link to the same page I would use some redirect (301).
