If ABC website acheived a high Pagerank as a result of incoming linking from websites with a Pagerank above 7, does the ABC website loses it's high PageRank if all of the links from these high ranking websites were removed?
Here's the twist...
Would incoming links from 100 websites with PageRank lower than 5 keep it from losing it's high PageRank if the above condition was true?
Thanks!
Pagerank is the weighted sum of the the incoming links, recalculated periodically. So the loss of any link will lead, after the recalculation, to a loss of pagerank.
Obviously a site with a single link will be devastated if that link is removed, and a site with very many links will suffer much less.
It is very important to realize that the "page rank" you see in the toolbar is a logarithmic one. Assuming the logs are to base 10, a site with PR of 7 has 100 times the PR of a site with PR of 5 (ignoring the effects of truncation to an integral value).
I have attempted to address the issue of toolbar PR vs real PR in [webmasterworld.com...] message #5.
