Welcome to the 2k club GG.

We know it is not an easy task to balance what you can say, with what you have to say, and temper it all with your own point of view for the whole Gplex to read. Some times I think you have the absolute hardest job of anyone on this site. Tell L&S that we all voted you a raise. Hats off to Google for having the foresight to put a guy in the mosh pit and even more so for you flying the company flag on it. Thanks for all the posting dude.

<mods note: probably should go to the community forum eventually...>

Thank you, Sir!

thanks for having the patience and diplomacy to hang in here when the dials get turned.

Agreed. Takes class, wisdom and guts to do what you have done here. I'm betting if not for the wisdom to know when not to post though, you would have 3000.;)

I bet there were plenty of times GG was itching to punch(literally)those keyboards and let some of us posters know what he really thinking.
Great control GoogleGuy and all the best.

Well done, GG! Your contribution here, and your company's willingness to have their brand on it, are a potent example of what can be done.

In Cluetrain Manifesto, the authors cite a Saturn employee willing to post in a usenet group, but doing so quite unofficially. Unofficial or not, that employee still helped Saturn to achieve a human face and enhance the public's appreciation for the company.

But your involvement here, in such a visible spot, goes quite a bit beyond the CT example.

It's a good thing - may the clueless of the mainstream corporate world soon catch a similar clue. We'd all be the better for it.

GoogleGuy - I can't tell you how many times in the past two or so years I've been grateful for your generosity and grace under difficult circumstances. Don't know what I would have done without some of your feedback. Thanks.

Congrats for passing the 2k mark, GoogleGuy and thanks for your contribution and all the help you have given so many people.

Re: 2k - keep in mind, the postcount you see in your profile is not the exact number. It's just a guess. Something like the tollbar pr, lol.

GG, Excellent job!

Your posts on WW are of significant value to us. The diplomatic way in which you deal with the occasional difficult situation and associated webmaster frustrations that arise is truly commendable.

You had to get permission from the PR department to post? You should be in charge of the PR department! - only as an additional feather in your cap of course;)

If there is one tiny favor you could do many of us.....we would like to be able to see your recent posts in your profile. I'm sure many of us look for your posts, but the hunt is cumbersome.

Regardless of any personal opinions about your employer, you are a class act that Google should be 101% proud of and indebted to.

Take it easy over the holidays, you have certainly deserved it!

If Brett's okay with it, I'm okay with it. :) Officially, I'll be gone this week to spend holidays with the family, but I'll try to stop by every couple days or so anyway to check if there's any questions to answer..

> dignity

I had hoped to be the first to use that word, but on the other hand I am glad that others found it to be a natural choice. And I am not at all surprised.

As soon as I saw that this thread had been started I was completely sure that the word "dignity" had to be a central word in the post that I would write. Most of all I have been impressed with the dignity you have shown when people used harsh words about your own personal honesty.

> Some times I think you have the absolute hardest job of anyone on this site

Definitely. And I find it hard to think of any other members doing what they do here at quite the same quality level. Like many (most?) other members I may have my reservations about the company that you represent, but my respect for you as a person is not diminished by that.

It's an honour and a pleasure to be able to post next to you.

GoogleGuy, didn't you just pass 1000 posts in the spring? I guess your posting speed is matching googles indexing speed :)

"GoogleGuy, didn't you just pass 1000 posts in the spring?"

Feels like the number of posts have an exponential curve upwards sometimes. :) plasma, I work on the technical side of Google.

>>I think Brett stopped Gg's recent posts showing in his profile to prevent someone hijacking them into a website of his own called GoogleGuysays or something.

Nothing wrong with that. Just more advertising for Webmasterworld. Most people know the source anyway.

GG, I see you're based in Ca, but there's a British connection somewhere. In evidence I suggest some of your expressions e.g. 'Good heavens' and your admiration for Red Dwarf / Monty Python / HitchHiker - am I right, or is this yet another conspiracy? ;)

I remember well when GG first appeared. In that time I was still just a reader (I registered some months later, almost 2 years ago... time really flies).

Keep up the good work!
