Detecting Google http referrer

Should I show dynamic content based on the Google referring page

I have a shopping directory site that post-Florida ranks highly on a wide and unpredictable range of search terms.

This is great news, except that when a human visitor follows a link to my site from one of its high-ranking position on Google, they'll be hard pushed to find any content on the home page that is relevant to their search. (God bless Florida and all who sail in her...)

I'm thinking of displaying some dynamic content on the site home page based on the search term contained in the http referrer from Google. I won't redirect the user to another page, but will use the search term as a database query string.

From Google's point of view this could be seen as a no-no because Googlebot will see something different to what human visitors see on the home page.

But from a human visitor's point of view, it will be better because the page they go to will have more content relevant for their search.

I'd be interested to hear people's opinions on this. Good idea? Bad idea? Am I worrying too much? Thanks!
