How does no_cache meta tag affect google spidering?

hi, <<snip>> What interests me is if a listing omits the "Cached" link. I was wondering how preventing Google from caching the page using the meta tag affects both spidering and ranking of a page.

I do not believe this has been discussed. Any thought on this issue is helpful.

Thanks much!

I'm not sure I understand your question correctly but I'll take a stab at it.

One of my sites shows up somewhere between the third and fifth positions on Google for my two keyword combo. This is a very competitive but mostly non-commercial area with lots and lots of sites doing the same thing. We just do it better. :) Anyway, my point is the site is mainly photographs of plastic model widgets and I don't want Google stealing them from me for their own and other's use. Within the last year or so I started using the <meta name="googlebot" content="noarchive"> tag and my ranking hasn't been affected at all. Google also crawls just as deeply as it used to before I added the tag.

I hope that helps you some. Perhaps others will share their experiences with you as well.

GaryK, I had the same experience, but the fresh tags disappeared.

GaryK, I had the same experience, but the fresh tags disappeared.

On the site I mentioned above I noticed the same thing too. But it's no big deal. However on another of my sites that ranks even higher but is less competitive I sometimes notice a fresh tag the day after a regular weekly update is done when I happen to be checking Google to see if I've made it to the #1 spot for my one keyword. Currently I'm #2 and #3 for that keyword but #1 for a two keyword combo. I can't confirm it gets a fresh tag every time though because I don't check it weekly.
